We finished the year at Orangeburg which is a change from the past and I think it worked out great, could be something we continue. We will see how the schedule shakes out.
In the Championship flight we had quite the battle as Wes Fennel and Mike Cobb dueled it out. Mike was very steady with a front nine of 36 matched to a back nine of 36 for an even 72. Multiple golfers were with in a shot or two of the lead after 14 holes. Wes Fennel who posted a 38 on the front started the back nine with two birdies and and kept it close to finish on shot back. With his victory, Mike secured the season long points championship to go aloing with his new title of 2023 Charleston player of the Year!
The A flight saw season Champion Sean Keneck finish in a tie for first place with Brendan Callahan. Sean must have felt the need to validate as he won the on course playoff to go along with his season long points title.
The B flight had quite the battle all day, that's what happens when you have 29 players in a flight. It was Rueben Alley who played the steadiest on the tough track by firing a 38/40 for a smooth 78 to take home top honors. Crys Peyton gave chase and privide a good fight but finished two shots back. With his steady play all year, Jason Courtney won the season long points title for the B flight.
The C flight had some drama, but Tom Devine put it to rest with a very nice round of 83 to secure the title. Sam Marano and Joseph Deese Battled it out all year for the points title and with the tie, Sam came out on top to win the season long points race.
The D flight was another drama filled event. Kent Barker could ot make the finals so Ted Deese had to finish in the 9 out of 10 to take home the season long title. Ted finished 9th!! In the tournament Johnny Hayes fired a superb round of 83 to hold off Justin Miller who posted a very nice round of 86.
Congrats to all the winners and to all of you for a great season. Look for info for and off season event and bring a friend out for next season as we look to grow to 100 man fields Thank you all for a great year. Tim
