The Charleston Golfweek Amateur Tour held their annual May event at Shadwomoss Plantation on May 10th. The course was in great shape with nice fairways and fast greens that always seem to be in very good shape for the amount of play this West Ashley course receives.
We had a newcomer in the Championship flight as Justin Inglett showed he is a player with a couple of Birdies and an Eagle in his debut but it was tour veteran Jeff Emory who squeezed out the victory with a nice round of 78 to Justin's, 82.
The A flight saw a return to the winners circle for Bulls Bay member Duane Bausman who fired a very steady round of 80 to secure a one shot victory over Stephen Kauble. Coming in third in the A flight was Jace Gause who continued his steady played and increased his season long points race.
The B flight witnessed our only playoff of the day as James "crooked hat" Ravenel, and Denny Miller both posted very nice rounds of 79 took to the course for a sudden death playoff. These two have been known to battle in the past but not so today as Denny secured his victory with a par on the first playoff hole. Coming in third in the B flight needs mentioning as Al Dozier was a shot back with 3 birdies and an Eagle as well!
The C flight had five guys separated by less than four shots and Jason Courtney netted the victory with a round of 90 to top the pack that included Wayne Carter, Sean Metzger, Craig Herring and Aaron Chase.
The D flight saw a very happy Chris Hill earn his second victory with a one shot win over Mike Miller, 96 to 97. He also won a Close to the pin that also netted him an additional $90.00, way to go Chris.
Our next event is at Seabrook and it will be our inaugural event at the ocean facility. Please sign up early for this one guys.
