Island West Golf Club was the host course for the second combo event of the season between the Hilton Head-Savannah Tour and the Charleston Tour. The weather was simply perfect for a round of golf. The sun was shining, the course was in great shape, the players were in good spirits. What more could we have asked for today? With the weather and conditions being so great, low scores ruled the day.
In the Championship flight, five players took to the course to battle it out for the prizes. Only nine strokes separated first from fifth place. In the end, it was Chris Burnette shooting a 3-over 75 taking home the first place trophy and prize money. Finishing second was Danny Nash (79), followed by Jace Gause (80) coming in third. Terry Richter and Trevor Scott finish with 84’s.
The A flight consisted of nine players all competing today. The race for the top spot was a tight one all round long. With only two strokes separating first from third, it turned out to be a great competitive round of golf. Coming in first place was Mark Ducker who shot the low round of the tournament with a 74. Tony Capehart came in second with a 75. Eric Tobias finished third with a 76.
The B flight also saw the winner post a low score to take home the goods. A total of 12 players were competing in the B flight today. With scores ranging from 82 to 92 to was a great competitive flight. Taking home the top spot was newcomer David Hill with an 82 on the day. Craig Ehde and Pat Helm come in one stroke back with 83’s. Pat Helm takes second in a scorecard playoff.
The C flight followed suit with the winner shooting s low score. Andrew Dart fires an 82 on the day to take home the top spot. Coming in second was Matt Kingry (86) followed by Keith Weaver (86). Matt takes home second place in a scorecard playoff.
The D flight saw a amazing round put together by Max Velazquez of the Charleston Tour. Max fired a tremendous round today and put an 83 on the board. Max was the runaway winner in the D flight today. Coming in second was Michael Miller, also of the Charleston Tour.
