As usual, the Charleston tour descended upon Crowfiled Plantation golf course for their annual event at one of the area's toughest tracks. Saturday proved to be no different than any other year. A total of 38 players took to the challenge of the Goose Creek gem. The course proved very difficult with only two players shooting rounds in the 70's.
Matt Mcinniis was untested in the Champ flight but, bunched in with the A flight guys, he did fairly well posting a 84 for the uncontested Champ flight victory.
The A flight saw some spectacular play from Dan Wanner and Billy Hill who both fired 76's on the day. Showing the key to the difficult course, Dan and Billy both did a superb job with their irons as Dan hit 15 greens in regulation and Billy hit 12. In the playoff it was Billy who proved that one more green in regulation was what he needed as he edged out Dan by a stroke in the sudden death playoff. Dan gave it his best shot as the defending champion from last year. Proving that he must like this course as he came within an eyelash of defending his crown.
The B flight saw a person who was successful in defending his crown as Devan Lawrence won his second consecutive title at Crowfiled by posting a very nice round of 82. Coming in second place again for the forth consecutive tournament was Mr. Steady James Ravenel who shot a steady 85 to edge Nolan Elenz from the Charlotte Tour who posted an 86 on this difficult day.
The C flight saw our second playoff of the day as first timer Jody Fabian battled Brad Morris in an overtime dual as both posted scores of 92 for the tournament. Brad edged out Jody on the first playoff hole and won his third event. Lee Sanders came in third one shot out of the playoff with a 93.
Wayne Carter posted a very nice round of 89 to take the honors in the D flight. Coming in second was tour veteran Cowboy with a solid round of 95 while new comer T.J. Angerer posted a 96 to round out the top three.
Closest to the pins were won by; Dan Wanner (A FLT), Denny Miller (B FLT), Lee Sanders (C FLT), and Reggie Simmons (D FLT).
