The Charleston Tour made their annual trip out to Hollywood
to take on the Links at Stono Fery.
The course was in great shape and was able to withstand a torrential
downpour that briefly halted play but did not stop the red hot golf.
The Championship Flight saw the return to the winner’s
circle for B.J. Hill who fired an even par round of 72 to hold off Chris Asbel
and T.A. Fulmer in his first event as they both posted very solid rounds of one
over par 73. Using the scorecard play-off
(back nine) it was T.A taking home the second-place money.
The A flight saw another very hot round as Mark Ducker
returned to the winner’s circle for the first time in three years as he fired an
even par 72 to win the A flight by six shots over Kevin Lyles and Jace Gause
who both posted very nice rounds of 78.
It was Kevin taking the scorecard playoff over Jace in the competitive A
flight that saw 2-7 place separated by 3 shots.
The B flight had a lot of excitement as there was a four-way
playoff for first place. Michael Menna,
William Klaus, Lyn Rhode and Jason Courtney all posted solid rounds of 84 to
tie for first place honors. The playoff
started on hole one and Michael and William both Parred while Jason and Lyn
were eliminated via a bogie. The second
hole was also parred by the two with Michael finally taking home the honors on
the third playoff hole with another par.
The C flight saw Michael Becker fire a great round of 76 to
outdistance the field and take-home top honors.
Jack King, Tom Brady and Larry Penfield all tied for second but it was
Jack’s 42, Tom’s 44 and Larry’s 46 on the back nine that determined the 2-4
places.
The D flight saw Johnnie Cooper fire a career best 85 to not
only win but earn a promotion to the C flight.
Well done Johnnie. Bob Hill 89
and Tyler Martin rounded out the top three for the D flight.
Out next event is at Wyboo Players course on June 20 this is almost sold out so sign up early.
