Orangeburg Winners, Kauble, Gamblin, Foxworth, Courtney and Wilson
The Charleston Golf Week Amateur Tour had to Venture down
I26 for their Masters tournament. This
came about due to a change in Venue for the tour. Being it was Orangeburg it also spiked interest
as we wound up with a full field for the day.
The Golf Course was in immaculate shape and their greens are easily the
best we play on during the year.
Stephen Kauble started things off with a Champ Flight
Victory after posting a solid 79 from the Orange Tees (7032 yds!) This was a
great round from that distance. In the A flight, Patrick Gamblin carded four
birdies in route to his very nice round of 76 to edge out Columbia’s Mike
Griggs by a single shot. Fred Dixon
followed in third place. The B flight
had an unbelievable field of 22 players.
Kyle Foxworth from Columbia posted a very solid round of 79 for a four
shot victory over Jace Gause and Todd Garrett.
Todd edged Jace for second place by virtue of his back nine score of 42
to Jace’s 43. In the C Flight, long time
tour veteran Jason Courtney made his way back into the winners circle with a
smooth 85 for a two shot victory over Columbia’s Bubba Atkinson. The D flight saw John Wilson continue his
strong play of late as he fired a nice round of 93 for a two shot victory over
Sean Gilpin.
The next event will be the battle of Summerville at Legend
Oaks Plantation. This event will start
at 8:30. Sing up online or just shoot me
