HURRICANE
DORIAN COULD NOT STOP THE CHARLESTON GOLF WEEK AMATEUR TOUR
The
Charleston Golf Week Wyboo event turned into the Dorian Classic,,,,,the one and
only Dorian Classic. The course survived the storm and was in spectacular shape
Andy Balao
who recently received a promotion to the Championship Flight ran away with very
nice round of 78 from the tips at Wyboo. Well done Andy
The A flight
saw some spectacular play as Tony Capehart birdied hole 18 to force a tie at
the top with Eric Maland who had already posted his Super Round of 74. The two headed out to the first hole for a
sudden death playoff. Eric got in a little trouble with his drive and was only
able to mange a Bogie. Tony won with a solid par. Coming in tied for third was Glenn Powell and
Fred Dixon who both posted great rounds of 76 themselves.
The B flight
saw Jack Sudol from the Myrtle Beach tour not waste his drive down as he fired
a very nice round of 79 to edge out Jace Gause by a shot and Michael Menna by
two.
The C flight
saw Sam Marano win his first ever event with a very solid round of 85 to hold
off Myrtle Beach’s Shane Grainger and Julie Johns by two shots. Congratulations
Sam.
The D flight
saw the second sudden death playoff as Aaron Chase and David Deese both posted
solid rounds of 90 to advance to the playoff.
It seemed as though Aaron may have stiffened up in the club house as
David easily won on the first hole to secure his first ever win on the tour as
well.
Our next
event is the season final at Crowfield Plantation on Sep 21. This event will be followed by an end of the
year party at the directors house immediately following the event.
