On a busy weekend in the Charleston Area with the Bridge Run and the Azalea festival both taken place the Charleston Tour ventured down the tree lined historic highway to Legend Oaks Golf Course in Summerville to begin Masters week the correct way----by playing golf! The weather that was supposed to cause havoc left in the morning and gave way to clearing skies but tough golf conditions. The Champ flight had a real battle as Bill Jenner fired a hard fought 74 that included 4 birdies and two double bogies. His Birdie on 14 was enough to fend off Myrtle Beach’s Jeff Emory who posted a very nice round of 75 to take second. Jason Dores rounded out the top three with a steady round of 77. The A flight saw new comer Glenn Powell post a super round of 76 to take top honors. Coming in Second with a 79 was Fred Dixon who finished three shots better than Dan Wanner. The B flight had a great round posted by Randy Tame who completed his second victory in a row by shooting a superb round of 78 to edge out Tim Sumption by a shot. Coming in third was Denny Miller who won a score card playoff over James Ravenel. The C flight had a guest of the tournament take top honors as Tommy Hunt posted an 85 to outdistance the field and Shanie Cooper by four shots. Casey Sullivan rounded out the top three in the C flight. The D flight saw Aaron Chase use his “Home Field” advantage to take top honors in the D flight. Aaron fired an 89 to win by two shots over Vince Ackerman and Cowboy.
