The Charleston tour ventured down a highway for their annual
Monday Madness event. The Columbia and
Charleston combo event is always a great time as we have the course to
ourselves and it was in spectacular conditions.
The weather was perfect and that combination provided some excellent
play.
The Championship Flight was well represented with players
from the Hilton Head Tour and won by Zake Masterson who fired a one under par
71 to secure a 2-shot victory over Hilton Head player Wes Fennel. Zake’s round
included an eagle, one of five recorded on the day.
The A flight was a battle all day, Mike Griggs, Eric Maland,
and Nicolas Callahan all were within one shot of each other with Eric and
Nicolas going to a sudden death play-off with Eric Bringing home the victory.
The B flight had three guys all shoot 81, Joseph Jones,
Lawrence Whiteside, and James Fitzgerald and it was in that order they finished
2,3,and 4 as Bert Boyd held them all off with a smoot round of 8 over par 80 to
secure his first victory of the year
Notable in this flight was an eagle by Steven Sielicki on the par four
16th hole.
The C flight had some of the best play of the day as Josh
Lemond and Brendan Callahan battle back and forth all day with Josh firing a 77
to Brendans 78. Rounding out the top
three was Mr. Steady Tim Parrish with an 82
The D flight had a three-way tie for first place as Kelvin
Briggs, McKenzie Barrineau and Kelvin Hughes all posted very solid rounds of 16
over, 88. It was kelvin’s par on the
first hole that secured the victory with McKenzie taking second placed based on
the scorecard playoff.
Our next event is Legend Oaks on May 14, please register
soon for that one and also don’t forget our memorial day special at Paris
Island on May 28, you will need to sign up early for that one as we will need
to provide a list of players 10 days out.
