The Charleston Golf Week Amateur tout played their event on April 16th on a tough track made a lot tougher with increadible winds. The storm that has wrecked havo on the south blew by Charleston with little rain but lots of wind. The following results are not a true indication of how players played but they are what they are.....
The Champ flight saw the return a Jace Gause who has missed time due to a knee operation walk away with the top honors and we will say it was not one of his best scores but was good enough for the victory, welcome back Jace!
The A flight saw some very good golf and one AWESOME Shot. Matt Mcinnis holed out his second shot on the par four third hole for his first eagle of the season which helped him shoot a very solid 86 for second place. The victor was Dan Wanner who has shown his golf game is very good no matter what the conditions are. Dan fired an 84 with two birdies. 84 on most days would be somewhat a disappointment, but today it was a great round! Way to go Dan.
The B flight saw another great round as Devan Lawernce fired an 85 to best the field by 5 shots. Devan claimed it was his aility to hit fairways that helped him out today. He also hit green in winning the Closest to the Pin. All in all it was a very very good round by Devan. Taking second was B flight points leader Denny Miller who grinded out a 90 that could have been even better as he let a few 1 footers slip by the hole. Congratulations Devan and Denny.
The C fligh had a first time winner in Matt Kingry who shot a steady 95 to seal his first ever Golf Week Victory. Matt was followed by guest Jody Fabian who shot a 98. We hope to see more of Jody in the future!
The D flight saw Cowboy take home the top prize with a firiery 93. Cowboy was followed by steady playing Wayne Carter who shot 98.
Congratulations to all I look forward to our next event, Island West on April 30th. This is a combo event with Hilton Head and this is a course that usually rewards outstanding play. Sign up early.
