The Charleston Tour ventured up I95 for their annual Battle
By The Lake at Lake Marion Golf Course.
The battle by the Lake proved to be just that, with some
spectacular golf and some clutch play on display all day. Chris Asbel continued his tremendous hot
streak and fired a 3 under par round of 69 to cruise in past Mike Cobb who
fired a nice round of even par. The two
played some awesome golf as they had 9 birdies between the two of them. B.J. Hill rounded out the top three with a 1
over par 73.
The A flight saw Kevin Lyles return to the winner circle
with a very nice round of 3 over par 75 to hold off a hard charging Steve
Walters by a single shot. Dan Wanner
coming off his victory at Legend Oaks rounded out the top three by virtue of a
score card playoff over Sean Kenneck as both golfers posted solid 79’s, but Dan’s
35 on the back side was the determining factor.
The B flight saw one of our visitors, Lamont Middleton(85)
from Columbia take top honors by a single shot over John Saager and Mike Menna who
both fired rounds of 85 with Mike taking the scorecard playoff.
The C flight had four golfers finish with nice rounds of
85. Jack King, James Ravenel, Chuck Lane
and Chris Huge all went to hole one for an on-the-course playoff. The first hole saw Chuck and Chris eliminated
and James and Jack moved on to hole two.
It was a nice par on the second hole that propelled Jack to his first
victory in the C flight, congratulations Jack.
On the scorecard playoff it was Chuck edging out Chris for third place
money.
The d flight saw Tyler Martin proceed to the winners circle
for the first time ever! Tyler fired a
nice round of 87 to out distance the field by four shots. Charlie Cook continued his strong play by
finishing second with a round 91 to slip past Johnny Cooper by a shot. Our next event is next Sat at Stono Ferry, it
is sold out but there is a wait list if you would like to get on the wait list,
let me know.
