The Charleston and Columbia tours took their golfing prowess to Hillcrest Golf Course in Orangeburg for a combo event. The weather was exceptional and the greens were a bit quick!
The Champ flight saw Dan Wanner continue his winning ways by firing a 77 to outdistance Billy Hill who shot a 79 to finish in second.
The A flight also saw a repeat winner as Paul Sanderson from Columbia shot a 78 to take the honors with Mike Peters from the Hilton Head tour carding a very steady 82 to take second. The Champ and A flight closest to the pin was won by Mike Moses.
B flight saw the first playoff of the day as Denny Miller and James Ravenel both shot 84. The playoff went to the second hole as James got up and down from the bunker to secure the victory. Denny won the B flight closest to the pin.
The C flight was won by John Furr of the Columbia Tour who carded a very nice 83 for his first tour victory. He edged out fellow Columbia member Gary Collins who came in one shot behind. Securing the C flight closest to the pin was Brad Morris of Charleston.
The D flight had our second playoff as Charleston's Cowboy squared off with Columbia's Todd Ledford as both carded very good rounds of 91. Todd won it it on the first playoff hole. Tom Haddad was the winner for the D flight closest to the pin.
Overall it was a great day even if we had a little delay waiting for the tournament in front of us to finish. We always enjoy the combo events as it adds to our camaraderie and overall golfing experience. Our next event is at Pine Forest in Summerville on April 28th, sign up early!
