The Charleston Golf Week Amateur tour held a combo event Sat Aug 9th with the Myrtle Beach Tour at Rivertowne Country Club. The weather interupted play for about 45 minutes but other than that it was a great day on a truly great course that was in spectacular condition.
Jeff Emory continued his solid play, even after suffering an injury. Jeff posted a 79 and won the Championship flight going away! Way to go Jeff.
The A flight saw some great play as Jared Bibbee, had a super round firing a 72 with four birdies to out distance newcomer Jud Milam by two shots. Jud's round included 6 birdies and a CTP. Coming in third with a very solid 75 was Jason Ray. This is Jason's last local event as he and his wife are taking jobs in Miami.
The B flight saw Myrtle Beach's Greg Moses post a great round of 78 to take first over Upstate's Joe Lee who posted a solid round of 82. Coming in third was points leader Kevin Goddard.
In the C flight, Joe Sampson demonstrated it must be time to get back to school as his game is really coming into its own. Joe fired an 82 for a 7 shot victory over Jaso Guerrettaz.
The D flight saw hot Jerome Dowe post a one shot victory over new-comer Tim Rooks, 89 to 90.
It was a great day and our next event is going to be a three way combe at True Blue, a top 50 golf course in the US.
