The Charleston division of the Amateur tour descended upon Charleston National Golf Club in Mt Pleasant SC on Saturday and it turned out to be quite an event. The course was in great shape and the wind seemed to play havoc with all but a few golfers.
The A flight saw the first of three playoffs as Mark Ducker and Jace Gause both shot very steady 79's in the wind. Mark and Jace took the playoff to the third hole before Jace prevailed, congratulations to both for a spectacular round.
The B flight saw some outstanding golf played by guys playing in the same group. Both James Ravened and Jerry mast kept it in the short grass all day and both fired 78's to send the B flight back out on the course for a playoff. James must have wanted to get home quick as he won on the first playoff hole. It was the third victory of the year for James, well done.
The C flight saw the third straight playoff as David Mays and Matt Kingry both shot 92 to tie for first. Their playoff ended much like the B flights as David took his fourth title of the year. Congratulations to David and Matt for well played rounds.
The D flight did not have a playoff but the race was tight as three shots separated first through third. In the end it was Cowboy returning to the victory circle for his third title of the year. Being edged out by a shot was Wayne Carter who continued his steady play.
Our next event is a combo event with the Hilton Head Savannah group. We look forward to seeing you all there.
