The Arthur Hills course in Palmetto Dunes was the host course for the most recent event for the Hilton Head-Savannah Tour. The day started off nice, with a slight breeze and 43 golfers ready to take to the course. By the end of the day, the overwhelming feeling was that the course played difficult. By looking at most of the scores, the course indeed played tough.
The A flight 11 players take to the course in a quest to claim the top spot. With scores ranging from 81 to 96 you can tell it was a tough day. In the end it was time for another playoff on the HHI-Sav Tour. Coming in with 81’s on the scorecard was Terry Lennox and Steven Lewis. So off to number the players went. The playoff was decided on the hardest hole on the course, hole two. With Terry already on the green, Steven made a costly error and dunked his approach shot in the water. It was a tough day and a tough way to lose a playoff. Coming in third was Mark Harrison with an 84 today.
The biggest flight of the day was the B flight with 19 players. This flight had the largest gap in scores all day long. With the scores ranging from 84 to 107 and 6 scores of 100 or higher, the B flight got beat up on today. With only four players keeping their scores in the 80’s it was a tight top four. Winning for the first time in over 2 years was Dennis Henderson with an 84 on the day. Coming in second right behind him was Doug Hudock with an 85. Billy Bradley wasn’t too far behind with an 87 on the day to claim 3rd place followed by Patrick Ferreira and his 88. Nice playing by the top four today.
The C flight had a nice group of 7 players competing today. Newcomer to the tour, Jean Mora, wasted no time letting everyone know that he came to play and win on the tour. Jean secured a 6 stroke win today as he fired a very impressive 85 on the tough course. Coming in second was John Donat and his 91. Rounding out the top three was Gerard Mahieu and his 92 on the day.
The six players in the D flight were all ready to take on the course in hopes of claiming that trophy and those first place points. In the end it was Paul McGee winning his second tournament in a row. Paul fired a solid 97 to claim the top spot by two strokes over Jimmy Bryson (99). Coming in third was Joe Ammons with an even 100 on the day.
