The Hilton Head-Savannah Tour held its most recent tournament at Crosswinds Golf Course in Savannah, Ga. this past weekend. The threat of rain was in the forecast but it never came through the Savannah area while the golfers were out playing. The day was perfect for a round of golf with the temperature in the mid 70’s and a slight breeze kept the players in good moods all day long.
The A flight saw 8 of the top players compete today. Every one of the golfers were in high spirits and were ready to take on the course. Apparently 18 holes of golf were not enough for Michael Dion and Jeff Jordan. Both players came off 18 with very impressive rounds of 75 on their scorecards. Two playoff holes later the players came back into the clubhouse and Jeff Jordan was smiling. Jeff was able to hold off Michael and claim the top spot in today’s tournament. Rick Hopper fell one shot out of the playoff with a 76 to round out the top three.
The B flight was the biggest flight of the day with 10 golfers playing today. It was a very tight bunch of players with scores ranging from 81 to 90. Coming in with a three shot victory was Roger Clark with an 81 on the day. Finishing second was Thomas Hamilton with a solid 84. Craig Ehde cracks the top three with a round of 85.
The five players in the C flight were tightly bunched as well. Keith Weaver was the only player to shoot in the 80’s today with a steady 44-43=87 on the day. This win is the first win of the season for Weaver helping him extend his points lead in the C flight. The win also marks his 20th career win on the tour (14 in Columbus and 6 in Hilton Head-Savannah). Coming in second was Al Soles (91) and Tom Cobb (91).
The D flight saw Patrick Jones knock off the ever consistent George Story to claim the top spot in today’s round. Patrick fired a 92 on the day to hold on to the trophy. Rounding out the top three was Mathieu Roy.
Our next tournament will be in two weeks at Shipyard Golf Club on Hilton Head Island. We hope to see everyone there.
