Jamie Manning- Championship Flight Winner
The Barony Course at Port Royal Plantation Resort hosted the fifth event for the Hilton Head Division of the EGolf Amateur Tour on Saturday March 1.
The course is a beautiful layout where shot placement is the key to good scores. There are also some tough putts, so smart putting is necessary to prevent 3 putts.. The weather was fantastic with temperatures in the upper 70’s, sunny and just a slight breeze. The course was in great condition with the greens rolling pure. The Port Royal staff did a great job hosting the event, as everything was very well organized and efficient. The tour players had a great time and posted good scores in almost every flight.
Jamie Manning of Hilton Head shot a sizzling 73 to win the Championship Flight just beating out a pair of 74’s by Ryan Owens of Hilton Head and Arnie Reddick of Rincon, GA. Ryan took second place in the scorecard play-off.
Craig Case of Bluffton scored a double victory with a 72 to win both the Regular “A†Flight and the Championship Senior Flight events. Bryant Turner of Bluffton shot a 79 for second with Mike Peters of Richmond Hills, GA just behind with an 81 for third.
Mark Morris of Hilton Head and John Kolcum of Bluffton had an old-fashioned shoot out for the “B†Flight honors with both players finishing with scores of 84. Mark held on to win in a play-off. Darrell Bazemore shot a solid 86 for third place. John Barr of Port Wentworth, GA captured the Senior Flight honors.
“C†Flight honors went to John Donat of Beaufort, SC in a play-off over David Fuentes of Garden City, GA. Both players finished with scores of 88. John doubled up today taking both the Regular and Senior Tour top spots. Mike Tucker of Bluffton missed making it a three-way play-off by only one stroke. Mike’s 89 was good enough for third place with a host of player’s right behind.
Andrew Dart of Hilton Head captured the “D†Flight with a score of 98. William Tad Smith of Bluffton was just behind with 100 for second and Bob Hagan of Charleston fishing in third. Olin Williams of Hilton Head won the Senior Flight honors for his second win of the year.
