David Fuentes- "C" Flight Winner
The Hilton Head/Savannah division of THE EGolf AMATEUR TOUR held their sixth event of the 2008 season on Sunday, March 16 at the Southbridge Golf Club. Located near Savannah the course is wonderful layout with some of the toughest par 3’s anywhere. It was a beautiful day to play, with a warm soft breeze and bright sunshine. The storms the night before all but missed the course and the fairways and greens were in great shape. The sand traps you needed to stay away from as they were packed hard and still wet. The course staff was very helpful, as everything was set up when we arrived. The tournament played in right at 5 hours and everyone had a great time.
Gerry Pascale of Hilton Head won Championship Flight with a 76 over Kevin Arnold of Hilton Head, who shot 79. Michael Dion of Bluffton was right behind with an 80 for third place. Hugh Edwards also of Bluffton took the Senior Championship Flight honors with a 79, beating Howard Tomlinson of Savannah by two.
“A†Flight winner, James Kelly of Savannah, shot a stellar round of 76 to beat out Hugh Edwards of Bluffton who shot a 79. Jerry Homishak of Bluffton took the scorecard playoff for third over Craig Case of Bluffton and Mike Hayes of Richmond Hills, GA. All three players finished regulation play with scores of 80. Craig Case score of 80 captured the “A†Flight Senior Tour honors.
John Kolcun of Hilton Head continued his great play to take the “B†Flight win with a nice 84. Eric Lucas of Rincon, GA took the scorecard playoff for second place over Tim Sumption of Summerville. Both players shot scores of 85. John Barr of Port Wentworth, GA shot an 86 to take the “B†Flight Senior win.
David Fuentes of Garden City, GA held on to win the “C†Flight with an 89 over John Donat of Beaufort. John shot a 91, with Todd Saylor of Savannah right behind for third. John’s 91 was good enough to win the “C†Flight Senior Tour honors over Grant Genner of Bluffton.
Andrew Dart of Hilton Head and William Tad Smith of Bluffton finished regulation play tied at 98. Andrew took the playoff on the first hole. Olin Williams captured the “D†Flight Senior crown over Glen Cunningham. Both players are from Hilton Head.
The next tour stop in the Low Country is in Furman, SC at Penny Branch Golf Club. The Saturday March 29 event will be a combination affair between The Charleston and Hilton Head Tours. We would like to encourage everyone to come out, join the tour, and enjoy playing competitive tournament golf.
