Another Tournament in the Books.
The Hilton Head-Savannah Tour played its most recent tournament at the Barony Course in Port Royal Plantation on Hilton Head Island. A small group of 18 golfers took to the course to fight off each other and claim the top spots in each flight.
The Championship flight consisted of three players today. Greg Luther, Brent Savidge and Ryan Fussell all took to the course today to claim the trophy and the 450 points for the win. Playing from the tips proved to be a challenge for the players. Greg put together the best round of the three to take home the top spot with an 83 on the card. Ryan and Brent both carded 87’s to finish tied for second.
The A flight saw Jeff Jordan, Mike Peters and Dow Bonds fight for the top spot. For Jeff and Mike it was a tail of two nines today. Both players carded 82’s playing from the tips. But how they got there was very unique. Mike was on fire on the front nine carding a 35 while Jeff struggled. The back nine was a total flip. Jeff started playing like the Jeff we all know and Mike began to struggle. With a Par on 18, Jeff was able to tie Mike for the clubhouse lead. After one playoff hole, Jeff was standing on top as the winner.
The biggest flight today was the B flight with seven players. It was a pretty tight group with scores ranging from 85 to 91 playing from the blue tees. In the end it was a familiar face at the tournaments winning his first event of the year. Craig Ehde (85) was able to secure a one shot win over East Tennessee Tour guest Dan Mitchell (86). Rounding out the top three was Doug Hudock and Darrell Bazemore (88).
The C flight saw three players battle it out on the course. Keith Weaver, Todd Saylor and Mike Miller were all on a mission to win today. In the end it was Weaver posting his best round of the year (82) to claim his third win in a row. With the win Weaver will be promoted to the B flight. Todd Saylor finishes second while Mike Miller rounds out the top three.
The D flight saw Todd Champitto and George Story battle back and forth today. In the end it was George Story taking a 6 shot win away from Todd. With the win, George continues to stretch his lead in the D flight.
