Savannah Harbor, Wow.
Savannah Harbor Resort and Golf Club was the host course for the most recent event for the Hilton Head-Savannah Tour. The tournament was a combo event with the Charleston Tour joining the HHI-Sav tour. Today marked the largest filed for an event all year with 58 golfers taking to the course. The day was a hot and humid day and the course was a little wet from the recent rain. With a lift, clean and place rule in effect today, the scores were bound to be low. And they were.
A total of 7 golfers took to the course in the Championship flight in a quest to grab the 900 points, the first place trophy and the first place winnings. In the end it was Bill Hill firing a very solid round of 76 to best runner-up Danny Nash by two strokes. Rounding out the top three was newcomer Alex Kiproff who fired an 82 today. Congratulations to Billy Hill for his win and to Danny Nash for his second place finish.
The A flight consisted of a solid 17 players today. In the end it was another round of 76 on the scorecard. This time it was Art Arns who carded the 76 to claim the top spot. Art was able to secure the win over a hard charging round of 77 by Mark Ducker. Coming in third was George King, Devon Melone and Jace Gause; all with 79’s on the card. George King won 3rd place in a scorecard playoff.
The biggest flight of the day was the B flight with 20 players. Keeping with the run of 76’s on the day, Denny Miller fired that score to win the B flight. Scott Ammons put up a good fight all day but fell just short with his 79, good enough for 2nd place. Coming in 3rd was Ericson Coker with an 83.
The C flight was the smallest group today with only 4 players. In the end it was Erik Eadie carding a very solid round of 84 to take home the top spot. Coming in second was Todd Saylor and his 89.
The D flight saw 11 players take to the course today. With one player breaking the 90 barrier on the ever difficult course, it was a close battle for 2nd and 3rd place. The 89 that was shot by Tony James was good enough to claim the top spot. Coming in second was Mike Miller with a 92 followed by Vern Verna and his 93 on the day.
Congratulations to all the winners today. We look forward to seeing everyone at our next event.
