The most recent tournament held by the Hilton Head-Savannah Tour was at Crosswinds golf club in Savannah, GA. The golf course was perfectly named, especially today. With wind gusts up to 20 miles per hour 15 golfers had to make sure they trusted their swing and their club choice all day long. The course was in great shape and the greens proved to be difficult to read and judge speed. All in all the day turned out to be a very fun day of golf for everyone.

The Championship flight saw three of the top players return to action this week. Long hitting Robert Wyrick, Vince Davis and Chris Burnett all took to the course to battle it out. Vince struggled most of the day and just couldn’t find his stroke to keep him in contention. Chris Burnett put together a very solid round of 79 to set the bar for the champ flight. But it was the ever consistent Robert Wyrick who took home the top spot. Robert used 12/14 fairways hit and two clutch birdies to card a 76 on the day. Robert also won one skin worth $25. Congrats Robert on your great play.

The A flight also saw three players battle it out. Jeff Jordan, Mike Peters and Joe McDonie took to the long play gold tees to compete for 18 holes. Newcomer Joe McDonie battled the distance off the tee, the wind and tournament pressure the best he could today but fell short of catching the more tournament experienced Jordan and Peters. After 18 holes it was Jeff Jordan returning to the championship circle by carding an 82 on the day. Good playing Jeff!

The biggest flight of the day was the B flight consisting of 5 players. There has not been a player more consistent than Pat Helm all year long. From her consistently straight drives to her iron shots to her scores. Pat has about as solid as you can play tournament after tournament. It was that consistency that once again paid off for her. Pat carded an 82 on the day to claim her second win in a row. Seth Stephens returns to the tour and takes home second place while Craig Ehde rounds out the top three. Craig also won a flight skin ($10) and a super skin ($33). Congrats to all the B flight winners today.

It has been almost a full year since Keith Weaver stepped into the winners circle on the GolfWeek Amateur Tour. Today that drought ended. After the round was over Weaver stated, "Even though I won, this isn’t the way I wanted to break out." Even though Weaver carded an 88 to take home first place, the 88 was uncontested. However, Weaver did win two flight skins ($15) and two super Skins ($66). So, not a bad day after all.

The D flight saw three players take to the course in hopes of securing the top spot. Glen Cunningham and Nathan Alexander both came into the clubhouse with the same score, but it was Kevin DeBold that came in with a lower score to secure the win. Kevin has now played in 5 events with the tour and has won 3 of them. That’s not a bad percentage if you ask me.

A special thank you goes out to Kevin DeBold for his donation to the Stand Up 2 Cancer fund. Our fund currently sits at $200. I would like to see that doubled by the end of the year. Can we do it?
